The City of Englewood is the first city south of the Denver metro area, in Arapahoe county. It offers an eclectic, small town atmosphere with having the benefit of being close to the major metropolitan area of Denver county. Englewood was founded by a miner, William Green Russell, in the 1800s. On his way to California from Georgia, with 12 other men, they stopped to pan the rivers and streams. They were successful in finding gold and, as a result, built the Placer Camp and the city grew from there. Currently, Englewood's population is approximately 31,300 people.
Englewood's City Center features many commercial and cultural facilities, which are accessible by car, bike, the light rail system, and RTD. A popular landmark in the city is the Gothic Theater, with its art-deco architectural theme that dates back to the 1920s.
